Al was born in Vienna (Austria) and started his musical career as a bassplayer for local bands.
He toured Europe with different lineups and played sessions in studios around Vienna.
1992 Al founded Bass by Al, a three piece band that created a platform for his talents as
a singer/songwriter,as well as adding to his growing reputation as a bass virtuoso.
1994 On the Air, the bands first album was released. The eponymous title track received massive airplay on (Austrias biggest radio station) and also featured on the BMG-
sampler CD Hit Breaker which was released in Germany,Austria and Switzerland.
1995 Al moved to London to continue his career on an international level. Three months
after arriving he joined the Electro Pop band Alphaville. He toured extensively and recorded with them for two years.
In that time his reputation as a player became well known around the London music scene.
The following years he played sessions and toured with Gus Isidore (Seal,Peter Gabriel),
Dave Clayton (U2, Depeche Mode, David Bowie...) Kevin Armstrong (Thomas Dolby,Tin Machine) to mention a few...
1998 Al began recording and performing live with classical guitarist Slava Grigoryan.
1999 Al toured with Slava in America, Japan, Australia and Europe. He also produced and
co-wrote Slavas album Another Night in London, which was released worldwide on Sony-Classical and made it to No 1 in the Australian classical music charts.
2000 He met and began working with original members of Level 42.
The following years he continued touring and recording and started writing and producing Music for television and other media...
2003 Al toured Europe extensively with his own band,played an Australian tour with Slava Grigoryan ,also playing shows in Angelplace(Sydney) and the Sydney Opera house with Australian Electronic Artist Endorphine .
2004 He started working on his new album with legendary Level42-drummer Phil Gould with whom he had collaborated a great deal over the last years. Al also moved to Australia in August to do more touring and recording with Slava and his own project...
