Al Slavik was born and grew up in Vienna where he started his musical career as a bassplayer for local bands.
In 1992 Al started "Bass by Al",a three piece band that created a platform for his talents as singer/songwriter,as well as adding to his growing reputation as a bass and Stick virtuoso.
"On the Air",the bands first album was released in 1994.
The eponymous titeltrack recieved massive airplay on Ö3,Austria´s biggest radiostation and also featured on "Hit Breaker",a BMG sampler released in Germany,Switzerland and Austria.
In 1995 Al moved to London and soon became well known and highly respected in the English competitive music scene. Over the next decade he worked with some of the UK´s best musicians and producers in the Pop, Rock and Jazz genres.
There he also recorded his second album "The Secret One" .
An all star lineup features guitarists Gus Isidore,Dominic Miller,Bobby Tench and Slava Grigoryan amongst others.
“The Secret One is a very personal snapshot of my time in London. The twelve songs on this album capture the emotion, groove and many friendships that were forged during his time there,” says Al.
In 2004 he moved Australia where he already enjoyed success with one of his collaborators,classical guitarist Slava Grigoryan.
(Al toured with Slava in America,Japan,Europe and Australia and produced and co-wrote Slava´s album "Another Night In London" which was released worldwide on Sony Classical and made it to No 1 in the Australian classical music charts)
Based in Melbourne he continued to perform, write and produce new material.
2005 sees the release of critically aclaimed "Continental Shift",
another album with Slava Grigoyran.

In the second half of 2008 Al decides to come back to Austria to continue recordings for his new album "Trust"
